An Inheritance of Ghosts

Welcome to the collected life stories of my ancestors and their families!

This blog is the next step in my online genealogical evolution.  I already maintain three other genealogical blogs.  First, there is Mattocks Family Heritage, a basic family tree of my American ancestry.  Second, there is Mattocks Family Heritage Resources, where I have begun reproducing some of the source material I have used in my research.  Third, there is The Cooperage, where I record my latest findings and musings as I continue my ancestral quest.

Now I am adding An Inheritance of Ghosts, and here I will attempt to tell the stories of my familial predecessors as thoroughly and as clearly as it is in my power to do.  As I progress with my work here, each couple in my “immediate” family tree will be given their own post, and I will there relate what I know of their lives.

I will do my best to list my sources for each story, and will link to those sources in many cases.

The stories will be fluid.  That is to say, as I learn new information on my ancestors, I will update their stories.  So, if you find a person of interest here, you may want to check back periodically to see if any changes have been made.

To navigate through this site, click on the name of the individual you are interested in reading about in the Index section of the sidebar.

I welcome your comments.  I do ask that — if you have a comment on a particular individual — you make that comment on the post associated with that individual.  Please use the comment area below only to make comments on this blog in general.  You will need to provide an e-mail address to comment here, but this address will not appear in the blog unless you also include it in the body of your comment.

Remember, I’m just getting started, and I have a lot of work ahead of me, so please be patient as I get underway.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy!

Your Rebecca Bradley was my fifth great-grandaunt. I am descended from her brother Francis.
